Sacramento, CA – One of the largest school districts in the Sacramento area is quietly moving to revise its student absence policy to make clear that parents will not be notified if their children in grades 7-12 leave school to get “confidential medical services,” such as abortions, contraceptives and drug abuse counseling.
Pacific Justice Institute has learned that last week, the school board of San Juan Unified held an initial hearing to revise the district’s student absence policy. School officials have acknowledged that, currently, decisions are left to individual school counselors, nurses or administrators as to whether parents are notified when their children miss school for “confidential medical services.” The new proposal would make clear that parents of 7th-12th graders would not be informed in such instances. Only one board member, Dr. Larry Masuoka, questioned the proposed policy change. A final vote is scheduled for the next board meeting on November 17.
Similar attempts by school board members in Modesto and Fairfield-Suisun within the last few months stirred such intense opposition from parents that the proposals were defeated. A similar, pending proposal in Thousand Oaks is also meeting stiff opposition from parents and community members. Pacific Justice Institute will be offering legal analysis to the school board of San Juan Unified in support of parental notification. PJI has provided similar counsel to several other school boards that have ultimately decided not to hide students’ medical decisions from parents. PJI ally Capitol Resource Institute has also been instrumental in rallying parents to oppose “confidential medical services” policies.
PJI President Brad Dacus lives in the San Juan Unified School District. He commented, “It is wrong for a school district to hide students’ medical needs from their parents, who are morally and legally responsible for them. Fortunately for parents and voters, there is still a small window of time to contact the San Juan school board and oppose this proposal before it becomes official district policy.” For more information on the upcoming school board meeting, parents should contact Pacific Justice Institute.
The board meeting is scheduled to consider this issue next Tuesday, Nov. 17th at 6:30 p.m. (3738 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael). Brad Dacus is planning to attend on behalf of PJI, but it's important for as many other attorneys as possible who live or work within SJUSD to attend the meeting and speak on their own behalf as taxpayers, voters and/or parents in the District. You should also be aware that this battle has two nuances: First, part of the proposed policy changes deal with absences for other reasons. We are not challenging those changes. Second, while we are seeking to defeat the proposed changes to student absences for confidential medical services, the policy as currently written is unduly ambiguous and we are told is not being implemented uniformly in favor of parental notification. Thus, we also want to push for a slight adjustment to the current policy that will clearly require parental notification.

Atheists Tell Federal Appeals Court: Public Prayer Makes Us Sick
Washington, D.C. – Briefing is nearing a close in a high-profile case challenging prayer at Presidential inaugurations, currently before the federal D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. The lawsuit, filed by hundreds of atheists and atheist groups, led by frequent litigant Michael Newdow, was thrown out by the lower federal court. The two ministers who offered prayers at President Obama's inauguration, Dr. Rick Warren and Dr. Joseph Lowery, are named defendants in the lawsuit and are being represented by Pacific Justice Institute.
In its Opposition Brief filed last week, Pacific Justice Institute countered the legal arguments of atheists who said public prayer traumatized them to the point of illness. Among the more dire claims, one plaintiff declared, "[W]hen Chief Justice Roberts asked the President to say, 'So help me God,' I felt threatened and sick to my stomach." Another plaintiff stated in court documents, "As I watched this inauguration, I cringed with disgust as I witnessed this special secular event again being poisoned with sectarian religious nonsense."
The plaintiffs in this case include numerous individuals, and groups such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation, The American Humanist Association, Atheists United, Atheists for Human Rights, and Military Association of Atheists & Freethinkers.
PJI Chief Counsel Kevin Snider, who authored the opposition brief submitted last week on behalf of Drs. Warren and Lowery, commented, "Prayers designed to solemnize public events have a long and venerable history in our nation.

Напомню, что этот закон заставит государственные общеобразовательные школы праздновать день рождения гомосексуала Харви Милка, начиная с 22 мая 2010 года.
Спасибо всем за молитвы и ваше участие в общих стараниях остановить этот законопроект. В результате ваших звонков, электронных сообщений, факсов и петиций четыре законодателя от Демократической партии сняли свою поддержку этому биллю. К сожаленью, губернатор заткнул свои уши и не пожелал услышать ни свой голос совести, ни голос родителей штата Калифорния.
Калифорнийские избиратели пожинают то, что они посеяли. В 2003м году, когда Шварценеггер был избран в первый раз на пост губернатора, он объявил, что поддерживает идею о передаче гомосексуальным парам всех прав брака, которыми обладают пары, состоящие в браке. Теперь, подписав два ужасных билля SB 572 и SB 54, который признает действительными однополые браки, заключенные в другом штате, напрямую противореча 8й пропозиции, Шварценеггер поддерживает весь список требований и желаний секс меньшинств, ничем больше не отличаясь от своих лево радикальных либеральных оппонентов от Демократической партии.
Возникает вопрос, кто хуже? Либеральный Демократ или либеральный Республиканец? Несмотря на то, что и тот и другой наносят непоправимый урон семейным ценностям, либеральный Республиканец приносит вреда больше. Почему? Потому что либеральный республиканец притупляет чувство бдительности избирателей, потому что они считают, что выбирают меньшее из двух зол. Также считают не только избиратели, но и радио ведущие консервативных ток-шоу и Республиканская партия в целом. Такое мнение, конечно, не библейское. Проникая и нанося урон изнутри партии, либеральный республиканец разрушает республиканскую партию больше чем демократ. Обратите внимание, что если важный правительственный пост занимает либеральный демократ, то его анти-семейные действия напротив, объединяют и мобилизируют граждан на оппозицию для следующих выборов. Заметьте, именно это происходит сейчас повсеместно, аналитики прогнозируют, что на выборах 2010го года в Конгресс США опять выиграют республиканцы. Если Вы поддерживаете семейные ценности, но Вы голосовали за Шварценеггера, либерального республиканца с антисемейными ценностями, пожалуйста, извлеките для себя урок из всего этого.
А пока, с печалью в сердце должна напомнить всем, что нам не удалось остановить законопроект, который предлагает праздновать в государственных образовательных школах день Харви Милка. Празднование этого дня начнется со следующего года. 22 мая станет официальным днем празднования гомосексуализма для детей в школах с пятилетнего возраста! Празднование этого дня может включать любые вариации придуманные учителем-просмотр гей фильмов, переодевание в одежды противоположного пола, гей парады учеников на территории школы или у Капитолия, сочинения на тему "Радостный стиль жизни людей гомосексуальной ориентации" и многое другое. Законопроект ни в чем не ограничивает фантазии либеральных учителей в выборе "упражнений" по празднованию этого дня, но обязывает школы праздновать этот день и полностью лишает родителей права выбора на альтернативные уроки во время празднования. Он также запрещает родителям не пускать своих детей в этот день в школу.
Schwarzenegger SIGNS 'Harvey Milk G-y Day'
Despite the hard work and moral cries of pro-family parents, grandparents and other concerned Californians, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed SB 572, "Harvey Milk Gay Day" for schoolchildren, into law.
This morning, SaveCalifornia.com issued our response to the media (see below). Pro-family Californians are appropriately outraged today (see comments on our Facebook). I want to give you perspective and direction.
Thank you for your hard work and prayers to protest "Harvey Milk Gay Day." Your phone calls, emails, faxes, and petitions were admirable and pulled off four Democrats in the State Assembly. But sadly, Arnold Schwarzenegger has plugged his ears to parents.
California voters are reaping what they have sowed. In 2003 when he was first elected, Schwarzenegger was on record supporting giving all the rights of marriage to homosexuals (later he flipped and now supports homosexual "marriage" licenses too); he supported homosexual couples adopting children; and he had posed nude in a homosexual magazine in his body-building years.
A couple years ago, he hired a homosexual activist, Susan Kennedy, as his chief of staff. Now, by signing SB 572 and SB 54, which recognizes out-of-state homosexual "marriages" in clear violation of Prop. 8, Schwarzenegger supports the ENTIRE homosexual-bisexual-
What's worse? A liberal Democrat or a liberal Republican? Since they do the same damage to family values, a liberal Republican is worse. Because a liberal Republican dumbs-down pro-family voters with a unbiblical "lesser of two evils" standard, dumbs down conservative talk-show hosts, and dumbs-down the Republican Party. By infiltrating from within, a liberal Republican can do more damage to "his side" than a liberal Democrat. A liberal Democrat in office will actually unite pro-family citizens in opposition and motivate them for the next election. Look at the national picture. If you're a pro-family citizen who voted for Schwarzenegger, an anti-family-values liberal Republican, please learn from this.
You may want to express your anger by calling a live staffer in Schwarzenegger's office at 916-445-2841 or at any of his five regional offices. You should also expose this terrible deed (supported by 68 Democrat lawmakers, 1 Republican named Abel Maldonado, and California's liberal Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger) by posting comments to online news sites and social networking sites, and by calling talk radio shows.

Schwarzenegger vetoed "Harvey Milk Day" last year, he signed it this year. The Governor also previously claimed to oppose same-sex "marriage," but now supports destroying the definition of marriage as only between a man and a woman, in court, and by his signing of SB 54, to recognize out-of-state homosexual "marriages" in violation of Prop. 8.
For several months, SaveCalifornia.com has been leading parents and grandparents to call, email, fax, and petition Governor Schwarzenegger to veto "Harvey Milk Day." The clear majority of correspondence to the Governor was opposed to SB 572. 14,000+ Petitions Delivered to Schwarzenegger
As the deadline for signatures loomed, a couple thousand more pro-family Californians responded to our call to sign SaveCalifornia.com's online petition opposing "Harvey Milk Gay Day." Thank you!
Then more good news -- our volunteers counting the paper petitions announced many more had come in from active individuals, many who collected from their local churches. Our goal was in sight!
When we finally stop counting early Wednesday evening, we had 14,255 signatures! SaveCalifornia.com announced this fact to TV and radio reporters Thursday at 11 a.m., then we carted the heavy boxes of petitions into the Governor's receiving area on the first floor of the State Capitol.
Thank you to everyone who signed and especially to those who collected signatures from others. You are making a difference, and SaveCalifornia.com is multiplying your effect by telling it to the media! Praise the Lord for all this activity. Together, we are defending vulnerable children whose hearts, minds, bodies and souls would be harmed by "Harvey Milk Gay Day."
TAKE ACTION: Move quickly to call and urge others to call Governor Schwarzenegger's six offices to urge his veto of SB 572, "Harvey Milk Gay Day." Don't relax!
After delivering all those petitions, I talked with Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear. He wouldn't say whether Schwarzenegger would sign or veto "Harvey Milk Day."
But he said whatever the Governor decided, one side or the other was going to be very unhappy. This is true, but not what pro-family voters deserve to hear!

More signatures against than for SB 572 collected in one month's time
Sacramento, California -- More than 14,000 signatures of Californians opposing 'Harvey Milk Gay Day' for schoolchildren have been delivered to Governor Schwarzenegger, urging him to veto the bill like he did last year.
The 14,255 signatures were collected in less than a month via online and paper petitions by SaveCalifornia.com, a statewide pro-family, pro-child organization that is leading the charge against SB 572, "Harvey Milk Gay Day," which is on the Governor's desk.
"In less than a month, many more parents and grandparents have signed petitions opposing "Harvey Milk Gay Day" than those who, in the same span of a month, signed petitions supporting this school day of blatant sexual indoctrination," said SaveCalifornia.com President Randy Thomasson. "The large and growing opposition to SB 572 isn't surprising. Only one out of five Californians support honoring Harvey Milk with a "day of significance."
The petitions, delivered today to the Governor's office by Thomasson and parents, read as follows:
Petition to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to veto SB 572, creating "Harvey Milk Gay Day"
- Whereas, the appropriate goal of the California public school system is to teach children academic proficiency, not to indoctrinate children with controversial and politically-correct notions;
- Whereas, the effect of SB 572 is to openly teach children that homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality are good and natural and maybe for them;
- Whereas, fathers and mothers -- not politicians -- should have the final say about the teaching of sexual lifestyles to their children;
- Whereas, by passing SB 572, the California Legislature is pressuring children in public schools, as young as kindergarten, to celebrate "Harvey Milk Gay Day," regardless of their parents' wishes;
- Whereas, the Governor of the State of California retains veto power over this legislation;
- Whereas, in 2008, the Governor vetoed the same bill pushing "Harvey Milk Gay Day" (AB 2567);
- Therefore, I hereby urge Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to exercise his constitutional power to veto and strike down SB 572.
"'Harvey Milk Gay Day' is opposed by most Californians, who want schoolchildren to be taught academics, not perverse sexual indoctrination," said Thomasson. "These petitions demand that the Governor veto 'Harvey Milk Gay Day' because the appropriate goal of schools is to teach academic proficiency, not sexually-charged and politically-correct notions. The highest percentage of phone calls, faxes, emails, poll respondents, and now petitions to the Governor all say 'no way' to 'Harvey Milk Gay Day.'"
A SEXUAL PREDATOR OF TEENS
Randy Shilts, a homosexual San Francisco Chronicle reporter, wrote a favorable and sordid biography of Milk in "The Mayor of Castro Street." The 1982 book detailed Milk's sexual relationships with a 16-year-old, a 19-year-old and other young men:
"...sixteen-year-old McKinley was looking for some kind of father figure...At 33, Milk was launching a new life, though he could hardly have imagined the unlikely direction toward which his new lover would pull him." (pages 30-31)
"It would be to boyish-looking men in their late teens and early 20's that Milk would be attracted for the rest of his life." (page 24)
"Harvey always had a penchant for young waifs with substance abuse problems." (page 180)
"Harvey confided one night that at twenty-four, Doug was the oldest man Harvey had ever started an affair with." (page 237)
ADVOCATED MULTIPLE SEXUAL RELATIONSHIPS AT THE SAME TIME
Explaining Milk's many flings and affairs with teenagers and young men, Randy Shilts writes how Milk told one "lover" why it was OK for him to also have multiple relationships simultaneously:
"As homosexuals, we can't depend on the heterosexual model...We grow up with the heterosexual model, but we don't have to follow it. We should be developing our own life-style. There's no reason why you can't love more than one person at a time. You don't have to love them all the same. You love some less, love some more -- and always be honest with everybody about where you're at. They in turn can do the same thing and it can open up a bigger sphere." (pages 237-238)
PUBLICLY LIED FOR YEARS ABOUT HIS MILITARY CAREER
"He had not suffered this disgrace, he told a later campaign manager, but he knew the story would make good copy. If anyone said something to Harvey about his fondness for such stunts, he would gesture wildly as launched into a lecture. 'Symbols, symbols, symbols,' he insisted. Sure, he had not been kicked out of the military...The point of the story was to let people know that service people routinely do get kicked out. Besides, he once confided, 'Maybe people will read it, feel sorry for me, and then vote for me.'" (Randy Shilts, The Mayor of Castro Street, p. 78-79)
The text of SB 572 states that "On Harvey Milk Day, exercises remembering the life of Harvey Milk, recognizing his accomplishments, and familiarizing pupils with the contributions he made to this state" shall be conducted; specifically, "all public schools and educational institutions are encouraged to observe...and...conduct suitable commemorative exercises."
"This bill is not about 'gay rights' or 'stopping harassment,'" said Thomasson. "Instead, SB 572 is outright promotion of everything Harvey Milk believed in -- the entire gay, lesbian, bisexual, transsexual agenda pushed upon schoolchildren as young as kindergarten, without parental permission."

День гея Харви Милка будет учить школьников всем противоречивым ценностям этого человека. Основываясь на исторические записи его грязной жизни, детей в начальной школе могут учить, что секс взрослого человека с ребенком – это нормально, что сексуальные отношения с многими людьми – это нормально, что врать публично – это хорошо, если помогает тебе идти вперед и достигать твоей цели. Такие инструкции, независимо от того, преподают их косвенно или напрямую, совсем не то, чего хотят родители, и совсем не то, в чем нуждаются наши дети. Харви Милка пытаются выставить как мученика-героя. Гея, которым должна гордиться вся Калифорния. В данный момент гей-лобби и племянник Харви Милка, который тоже гей, наседают на губернатора, чтобы он подписал этот законопроект, и в свою очередь гомосексуалисты собрали 39.000 подписей за 4.5 месяца с просьбой утвердить этот день для школьного праздника. В школах будут проходить парады и разные другие мероприятия в честь его и ему подобных «мучеников за права геев». Быть или не быть "красному" дню календаря для геев в Калифорнии зависит не только от нашего губернатора, но и от нас. Пожалуйста продолжайте звонить губернатору, шлите письма и петиции и, самое главное, МОЛИТЕСЬ!!! Мы можем приготовить коней для боя, но исход битвы все равно решает Господь. Он суверенный правитель миров и нашего штата тоже. Будем смиряться, поститься и молиться о Божьей милости к нам и нашим детям!!!
